So let me introduce myself……
My name is Lisa and I am a qualified therapist. I am a member of the
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework. I have experience of working with adults with varying problems such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, bereavements, sexuality and physical or emotional abuse.
I am trained in a number of therapeutic models, mainly using a Person Centred Approach, which means we work together from the understanding that you the client are the expert in your own life and hold the key for your own self-healing process.
I also work with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy allowing flexibility in the way I work with each client on a session by session basis.
Having previously worked with some of the most vulnerable members of society for a period of sixteen years I built transferable skills and qualities including communication, listening and reading body language, ensuring I treat people empathetically and with patience showing compassion and was non-judgemental as I realise that no one person has the same set of circumstances and there is a reason as to why they are and where they find themselves.
I continue to use these skills within the therapy room, my role is to understand your situation from your perspective making sure you feel accepted by me and through discussion are in a better position to better understand your own feelings.
As a counsellor it is my role to understand your situation from your perspective knowing that the reasons for seeking help are all unique to a given individual. I approach my work with each of my clients with patience, empathy, compassion and a completely non-judgemental space for them to work toward a better understanding of your own feelings. If you feel that I could be the counsellor to work with you, feel free to contact me.
